Which classes do you plan to take this fall?

^ What about DOC (Marshall)?

Anyone’s transferrable courses still waiting to be added on Academic History?

Mine were added! YAY! Just checked, lol.

DOC 1
CHEM 6A
MATH 20B
TDGE 11

I really don’t want to start my GE’s now because I only have a few left (due to APs & transferrable courses) but I’m not quite sure what else to take so GE theater it is.

I’m majoring in human bio and feasibly I could start my upper division bio classes now but I heard that chem and bio are pretty hard at UCSD and I don’t want my first quarter to be really difficult, esp since chem isn’t my forte. I’d rather ease into college. Any opinions though because I feel like its pretty useless taking TDGE 11 now, even though I heard its pretty easy.

and rameezkhan:

My sister was in Marshall too and had to take DOC 1. She had Gilson and she said it was a pretty easy class for her but she heard that everyone else had a really difficult time. It really depends on the TA though because they grade your papers, but for learning purposes I guess you need a good teacher. She said Gilson had interesting lectures but I read that she has really weird prompts too.

you guys are all taking so many classes!
this is my freshman scheduele, hopefully.
Chem 6a
CAT
Math 10a or 20a.

I have 32.5 units from ap tests and a cc class already and im not sure how many units this is but i really need a perfect gpa because im trying for the premed path. also im an undeclared science major because of the biological sciences being impacted and i first have to apply with a high gpa from freshman year. is this a great schedule? should i be able to ace them? should i take math 10a or 20a, iv never taken calculus in high school so im wondering if id be overwhelmed by the 20 series. also as a human bio major i wouldnt need the 20 series. but if the 20 series isnt that much harder ill take it. any advice?

^ You should take Math20A if you’re going Pre-Med.

However, if you did not take your placement test, you might want to do that. Otherwise, if the MPE put you into Math20A, you must enroll in it.

i took the math placement already and it said that i was prepared well for math 20a. however, not to sound like a grade grubber, but i need an almost perfect gpa and im not naturally that great at math, and i know kids in these classes will kill me on the curve cuz they are all probably good at math. also is 3 classes pretty good or should i take a seminar also, like biomed research?

If the exam recommends Math20A, you must take Math20A. On average, I believe freshmen take between 12-15 units per quarter.

:( u dont have a choice? darn. well is the class hard to get an A with all the competition?

x3anna, aaa you’re right. i forgot they have 5 unit classes. my bad. =[

yeah it’s all about time management. =]
i didn’t get really good grades but that probably had more to do with me not studying, not with the amount of units i was taking. haha. i was still in the senioritis stage. xD

Yes, you don’t have a choice. Don’t worry. You get free tutoring and you can always ask questions during discussions, or go to the professor’s office hours.

thank you. i hope i can handle it.

This is my tentative schedule:[Classes.jpg picture by AhoyArielle - Photobucket](<a href=“Photo Storage”>http://s239.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/ff37/AhoyArielle/?action=view&current=Classes.jpg)

I’m not sure I can make it from CAT1 to LTWR8C in 10 minutes, as I don’t know how close they are. But I do have a bike, so I think it’s doable. I didn’t really want classes that late, but for some reason I couldn’t find ANY classes I want that were any earlier. For one, there were no classes before 10 AM, and it’s basically impossible to avoid Friday classes. It seems that everything is either between 10 and lunch or after 4. I guess it’s cool, but I just didn’t want to feel like I’m always waiting around for classes. It ruins your day.

Any thoughts? Does this seem like a decent schedule?

Arielle, looks like a good schedule. Use this map.

http://maps.ucsd.edu/Acrobat/MainCampus.pdf

@Ahoy Arielle: Are you sure you can take LTWR8C? I think the pre-requisite is completion of CAT1, 2, and 3; I was looking at those, too.

Out of curiosity, though, what is your prospective major? is curious because you wanted to take LTWR

Arielle, my bad, there ARE prerequisites for LTWR8C.

@rameezkhan: Dang it! I thought I saw LTWR8C under the possible GE courses for Sixth, although that could apply for sophomores as well.

@the bunburyist: My major is Communications and I’m probably going to add Literature/Writing as a second major (with a focus more on nonfiction). Or I may add Poli Sci, but I feel like Literature would be much more fun. I want to be a journalist, which is probably obvious from the majors I’m interested in.

What’s your major?

Actually, it says the prerequisite is “completion of college writing requirement.” Does that refer to CAT or the UC Entry Level Writing requirement?

I hope for the latter, as that was my only fun class, but I doubt it.

I’m pretty sure it means CAT 123; I don’t remember which thread, but I recall someone saying that a while back. Which is too bad, because I’d like to have started those as well.XD My prospective major is Literature/Writing, actually! So if you do decide to go into it as well as Communications, hit me up–since it’s UCSD, it’s way hard to find a ton of people going into non-science majors. XD
