Which college is better for communications Marist or Syracuse?

I know Syracuse is known for a great communications program. I visited both schools and I love the atmosphere of Marist more, as well as its proximity to NYC. I liked the atmosphere to Syracuse a little less but I’m willing to overlook that for its communication program. My only concern with Syracuse is that it is so far away from NYC that I will not be able to get good internships like I might at Marist. My concern with Marist is that I am not sure how well known it is for helping its communication majors to succeed(like Syracuse is). I am interested in radio, television and film communication especially the writing aspect of it. If you could help me decide between these two schools that would be amazing! Thank you!

You are right Syracuse is the better school for communications. Here is how I see it: you can get summer internships either way. You don’t have to stay in Syracuse during the summer. Don’t worry about the internships too much. Go with the school that is better for your future.

thank you so much this really helps!

Syracuse has arguably one of the best (if not the best) undergraduate Communications programs. It is nationally known in that arena. Marist is a local school without a national reputation, irrespective of the quality of the program.

Syracuse and Northwestern are among the most recognized communications programs. It’s great that you are choosing the best program rather than the bumper sticker that too many applicants do.
