I was wondering which school has the best biological sciences program? I plan to go onto graduate school (dental school). I may change my major to biochemistry.
I am currently leaning towards either UC Davis or Cal Poly SLO. UC Davis for mainly academics, but Cal Poly SLO for a better college experience as well as a good education (in my opinion).
More information on SLO’s biological sciences/biochemistry programs would be great!
UC San Diego is definitely the best for biological sciences, I would go there if you get in. UC Davis is probably second best, which it seems like you’ve already identified. But if you really love Cal Poly, then go there. What is it about Cal Poly that you feel would be a better college experience?
Is cost a factor? How do these schools compare tuition-wise for you?
If you want to work in biotech ( the sector hiring the majority of bio majors) then there is an advantage to going to school in (or near) Boston, San Francisco or San Diego.
CalPoly tends to lean toward the applied sciences/engineering as opposed to pure sciences, which can be good or bad depending what you are looking for.
