I have been accepted to both UC Davis and Cal Poly SLO for a major in biological sciences. I plan on eventually going to dental school, however I am currently stuck on deciding which of these two schools California dental schools prefer. I like both of the campuses, albeit Cal Poly's town of San Luis Obispo is much better! Is a bachelor's degree in biology from a UC better than one from Cal Poly? I need to make up my mind in a week or two--HELP PLEASE!!!!

I think most will say UC Davis simply because its a UC, but in all honesty it doesn’t matter. Both are great choices. choose the school based on everything but your majors, both will be strong in any major you choose. so if you like Cal Poly’s location and environment more than i think you’ve already made your choice?

We asked Cal Poly specifically about pre-med and they said some people do go that route but they do not have pre-med program or couseling per say so you have to talk to professors and an advisor to make sure you are taking the equivalent courses for med-school. It can be done but you need to be well informed. UC Davis does have good pre-med advisors and are used to the pre-med route so you might get better advising there. There also is great pre-med advising on the UC Davis web sight if that helps any.
