Since sophomore year, I have wanted to go to college in Florida. I am going to be a senior in high school this year so I need to start thinking about what school’s I am going to apply to. I am going to apply to a couple schools for business and a couple for vet-tech and see how I do. I have an 1130 SAT, As of the middle of the year, a 93.8 weighted gpa(idk what that calculates to so if someone could tell me that would be great), but I only have like 7 hours of one school club but I have over a hundred hours at an animal shelter
Volunteering at an animal shelter is an EC. If you care about it and care about the animals, then this is a very good thing to write about (especially if applying for vet-tech or animal sciences).
Given your GPA, I think that your SAT is going to be the biggest issue. However, this is also much easier to fix (relative to GPA or ECs). You should do some SAT preparation. My daughters had classes either at a local community center or at their high school, and you should be able to find something similar in your area. Also, we found that even a very few hours with a tutor can help a lot – they can give you a practice test (or I think even use the test that you already took) and focus on the areas where you need the most help. With this and retaking the SAT you should do well. Good luck!
Do you live in Florida? If so then the in-state state schools should be relatively affordable. If not, then you need to run the NPC and see whether your parents (or other financial support) will be okay with the results.
