<p>Hi :3
I'm 16 and I will be graduating next year. I want to become a RN with a BSN(Bachelor's of Science in Nursing). However, i'm not sure about where to start.
Do I have to become a LPN(licensed practical nurse) first, then become a RN with an ADN (Associate's Degree in Nursing), and after that work on getting the BSN? Or can I just straight away try for the BSN?
What courses will I have to take?
Which college should I consider going to? I want a local college but not sure which ones I should think about.
Also, i'm going to an independent studies school, how will that effect my credibility when applying to colleges and other things?
I know so little and have so many questions and wasn't sure where to start so I hope you guys can please help me @n @
And Thank You in advance~</p>
<p>You can go straight for a BN. You need to find out what the licensing agency is for your state and what the requirements are. If there is a specific licensing exam, check out the passing rates for the various schools. Look at the individual programs and see where their students are doing their rotations. Try starting at [Registered</a> Nurses : Occupational Outlook Handbook : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics](<a href=“http://www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/registered-nurses.htm]Registered”>http://www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/registered-nurses.htm)</p>
<p>go to a four year school and get your bsn.
u of miami
u of pittsburgh
u of indianapolis
plus a lot of other very good schools</p>
<p>Most students prefer to go to a college that provides direct entry into nursing from high school. However, many universities do not offer it - they make students attend their college for a year or two before they can apply for a nursing major.</p>
<p>There is much more info on CC’s nursing forum.</p>
