So, I’ve applied to three colleges in FL. I got into all 3 (UCF,UF,USF). I plan to pursue a degree in computer engineering or computer science (I declared CE but I’m having second thoughts). USF has offered to more than half of everything per year. While I would have to pay almost everything at UF and UCF. Because UCF is less than an hour away, I may commute daily to save money, but I would be missing the a grand part of the college experience. From what I have heard UF has the best mechanical engineering program hands down. Though their computer engineering program is just about the same as UCF. USF is a close third. What would you do? Suggestions.?!

Anybody.?

I’d like to hear all about your application process, and how you decided.

UF definitely. Uf is considered a “public Ivy” that explains its self. UCF and Fsu don’t have the well established curriculum compared to UF. In this day and age prestige is everything. Hard work can get u anywhere but prestige can add a little more ease into that. Uf is ranked higher by almost every ranker better than fsu or ucf … so in my opinion I would choose UF

USF* sorry

I suggest USF because you are being taught by professors not T.A.'s and everyone in their departments for engineering are very friendly and encouraging. Great research opportunities, career fairs, engineering expo, and engaging engineering clubs. UF is ranked higher, but they have also been around longer and get more fundraising. Since USF is in the tampa bay area you have excellent access to a parent chapter that other schools cannot have. The work and downtown is 15 minutes from school. Relatively easy to get a local internship and people are always coming (local companies) looking for hire.

Also when it’s at the collegiate level every school has an ABET accreditation so it really does not matter what school you go to you will be learning and taking the same classes at each school(they did this on purpose). Go to a school that doesn’t hurt your wallet, you feel comfortable with, you have at least talked to someone who went there or went there and talked to someone, look at flow charts for your major at each school and decide from there. That is the best way for anyone. I am going to encourage USF, though, because I have had a wonderful experience in a great atmosphere.
