Which Course Load is tougher?

Math125
Chem142
Psych101

vs

Math125
Stat311
Econ201

Thanks.

honestly, that’s a subjective question

for me, the first one would be harder. but i hate chemistry

I would say the first one is more challenging, although I’ve heard terrible things about Stat 311. Everyone who’s taken it complains about how badly structured that class is, so I would avoid taking it if possible. Regarding your other classes… I would say Chem 142 is fairly easy, and I hate Chem with a passion. Econ 201 was one of the easiest classes I’ve taken here. Not sure about Psych or Math as I haven’t taken those at the UW.

Okay thanks. I have to take Stat 311 for my major. Which professor are you talking about or are you hearing bad things about Stat 311 in general? Also, do you have any info on the online Stat 311 class?

Thanks.

I can’t speak for much, but I will tell you that Chem142 is basically high school chem, +/- a few things. However, it is a “weeding” class (ie: it weeds out students because a lot of them do really poorly in it. the average grade in some classes is below a 2.5).
Pysch 101 is ridiculously easy. Just study/try, I got a 4.0

My first quarter schedule was Psych 101, Math 124, and Chem 142.
Before taking this schedule I also heard Psych 101 was an easy A. However I ended up with a 2.3. I did not hate this class either, I actually enjoyed learning psychology. My professor was superb, in fact!
I also enjoyed and like Chem but I ended the course with a 2.4 GPA-a bit lower than the class average.
Math was terrible for me because I had no calculus background whatsoever and I hate math. I decided to take this schedule with math because it was a pre-req for my desired major.
In conclusion, I think I personally had a rough transition into college from high school. But I know that is no excuse for a my low cumulative GPA.

From my experience, I recommend you take the first schedule if you think you can handle math without having to struggle too much. If you are strong in the subject of Calculus and do have a deep interest for Chem and Psych then I don’t see why you shouldn’t give that schedule a try.
But, if you are wanting to focus more on math and do believe that you’re a great mathematician then you should go with the second schedule… Only if you are solid on math.

Hope this helped!
P.S. There is a deadline for dropping classes (I believe without having to pay fees) after a quarter starts. So you can always attend a couple classes and experience for yourself before deciding on a final schedule.
