I'm a highschool senior who will be starting college at my local community college as a japanese pre major who wants to transfer to either sdsu or csuf. It depends on which university has the better japanese program. Opinions? Advice? Especially from those who may be current alumni of these schools?

I took Chinese courses in the Asian Languages program at SDSU and liked it a lot. I think the Japanese program is also pretty well developed, but I honestly can’t really make any judgments.

However, your best bet is to look at the catalogs of each of these schools. Whichever one offers more interesting (or simply more) Japanese courses is likely to have a better developed program. Read the description under all of the courses they offer and see which one appeals to you more.

In general, SDSU has a very well developed/supported international program, and has a lot of connections with foreign institutions if you want to study abroad.
