Which CSUs accept lower divison transfer ?

I plan to transfer to a CSU with around 44 units. I couldn’t find a clear list of which csus accept lower division transfer. Which csus campuses are open to lower division(I heard DH) ?

Other than Dominguez Hills, Bakersfield and Humboldt look like the only other campuses that accepts lower division transfers (still call to confirm). Staying another a semester or 2 at your current school will put you at 60+ units and you would have more campuses from which to choose. What is the rush?

Your previous posts indicate that you are an international student at Sac State trying to get into California and Florida State schools with a 2.75 GPA

You do understand that transfers to CSUs generally require 60 units?

You need to contact admissions (CSULB) to find out what will transfer, as well as, meeting the Golden Four requirements. It will be very competitive. It will cost you $40k per year.

CSULB does not take lower division transfers so if that is your target, you need to complete all requirements and transfer with 60+ semester units.

This link may help you determine which schools you can target based on GPA: https://www2.calstate.edu/attend/counselor-resources/Documents/transfer-2018-admission-impaction-chart.pdf

I’m actually in Florida right now(transferred out of sac state) and plan to apply for transfer to csulb in Business. Let’s say I apply with a 2.75 gpa and 60 units. Do you think I have a decent chance to get into or it’s a reach ?

If you looked at the link I posted, the average transfer GPA 2018 for CSULB was a 3.2. A 2.75 GPA from an OOS applicant with low priority will probably make CSULB a Reach school. All majors at CSULB are impacted meaning that there are more qualified applicants than spots available. If you are applying with a low GPA and OOS status, you need all major requirements completed to be more competitive. What is your intended major?

I’ll try to apply as a Management Major and I’ll have all lower division and recommended courses done.I’ll try to get the golden 4 done also.

Getting the Golden 4 done is essential or your application will be rejected.

I guess I’m gonna do it before I apply for fall 2020. Is it common to get accepted with a 2.75 gpa at long beach with all pre-requs done ?

I would say not common at all for acceptances at CSULB with a 2.75 transfer GPA unless the applicant is within the local service area.

CSULB does offer Spring Admission so if you have the required pre-req’s completed by end of Fall 2019, then you might have a chance at applying for Spring 2020 instead.

Here is the Spring Admission decision thread and you can look it over to see what GPA’s were accepted: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/california-state-university-long-beach/2096273-csulb-spring-2019-transfer-thread.html#latest

I’ll try to complete the Golden 4 during summer in order to apply for Spring 2020. I heard it’s a bit less competitive as you described it. I’ll take a look at those stats, thank you.

Do you know if CSUF is any easier to get into ? I took some summer classes this summer if this can help to gain admission.

If you look at the chart, CSUF average GPA was 3.32 so even higher than CSULB and also another impacted campus. If your transfer GPA is below a 3.0, you need to focus on non-impacted campuses such as San Francisco state, Stanuslaus, Bakersfield, Domiguez Hills, Channel Islands.
Not sure why you did not stay at Sac state since transferring between CSU’s would have been easier than from OOS. You are going to need to apply widely if you plan to return to California to complete your degree.

What is the gpa cut-off for csulb by the way ? I couldn’t find this information.

What’s the Golden Four?

The Oral communication, writing, narrative and math classes you need to complete before transferring to a CSU.

Minimum GPA for all CSU’s is a 2.0 but that does not mean that GPA will get you an acceptance. CSU’s admit by major, so you will be compared to all transfer applicants in your major.

-Except for “Highly Impacted” majors, CSU eligible applicants who are considered “local” based on their high school of graduation or their military veteran status will be offered admission if they meet the major specific minimum cumulative GPA and required lower division preparation.
-Other CSU eligible applicants who have met the major specific minimum cumulative GPA and the minimum required lower division preparation will be admitted on a space available basis based on their cumulative GPA and the additional preparation courses completed if specified in the criteria.
-If space is available after all students meeting the minimum major GPA and preparation have been accommodated, then CSU eligible students without the minimum major preparation will be considered.
-Students admitted to the major who have not completed the additional recommended transfer requirements or the additional CSULB requirements must complete them in their first year at CSULB.

BE AWARE: For Fall term admission, coursework and unit minimums must be completed no later than the prior Spring term. For Spring term admission, coursework and unit minimums must be completed no later than the prior Summer term.

I understand but if CSUF has a 3.4gpa cut-off for out of local, what’s about csulb ? 3.3 or something like that also ?

CSULB does not list their GPA cutoff for out of area applicants, but usually it is close the overall campus average but it can vary by major. For Business transfer majors, the minimum GPA requirement to apply is 2.5. You could call admissions and ask if that specific information is available.

Do you think I would have a better chance if I transfer to a community college my last semester and get the ADT in Business and apply for SDSU for instance ?
