Which dorm room is the best?

Anyone have any tips on which dorm is the best? (building wise)

I looked at the different statistics on the website, but I couldn't really make out any HUGE differences. Shed some light for me? :)

East side of campus is the best, where the newer dorms are.

From my experience these are best (undergrad)=
I parenthesized (hope that’s a word :D) the ones that are similar
(Landis/Gilchrist), (Wildwood/Degraff), Broward, Bryan, Jennie Murphree, Cawthon, Reynolds, (Deviney/Dorman), (Kellum/Smith/Salley).

Kellum Smith and Salley are all on the west side.

They all suck… I lived at a private dorm called southgate and I highly recommend it! You are on the southside of campus and just a 5 minute walk from Strozier (the main library), it has it’s own gym (although small) and dining center so you don’t have to get up in the morning and walk 10 20 min across campus to eat, hell myfriends and I went down there in our pj’s most of the time. Best of luck!- Kristen

Gilchrist, Landis, Broward, Cawthown and J. Murphee are old historic dorms that were gutted and redone from the inside out. They are nice, are all steps away from Suwannee dining hall (think hogworts) and are on campus and way closer to Strozier and all than Southgate, which is off campus. Degraff is new, but on the outskirts of campus. Wildwood is pretty central and new, and near the stadium but dining is a bit of a hike. Smith, Kellum, Deviney and Dorman all old, old, old but can be very social dorms because they are hall style and not suite style. Apply early, get in during the first acceptance period, AND GET ONLINE MINUTES BEFORE MIDNIGHT THE DAY DECISIONS GO OUT and get a great housing number.

Reynolds is also really, really nice imo. Well I’ve only been in my friend’s room at Reynold’s and it seemed much nicer than mine (in Wildwood).

Wooh Reynolds! I’m in a triple in Reynolds and it’s pretty nice and also conveniently located right next to the Suwannee Room…awesome.

oops I left off Reynolds by mistake!!! It is in the area of Landis/Gilchrist/Broward etc.

Keep in mind that the dorms are not all the same price either. My son was in Reynolds last year and it was really nice. However, financial considerations moved both of my kids to Deviney which was better than we expected it to be-- partly due to brand new carpeting installed this summer and extra huge windows. We looked at Smith (the cheapest), but the rooms were unbearably small.

Make sure to get a good number and then tour the dorms at preview so that you get your first choice.

I’m in bryan this year and i love it. It’s one of the oldest dorms, but it’s actually really nice on the inside. I’ve visited friends in Wildwood, degraff, and other dorms, and my room is the biggest out of all of them. Also it is right next to suwannee and not too far from the union where most of my classes are around. It is a living-learning community so you do have to apply through essays, but it is worth it. They have a classroom inside of the dorm where you get to to take a class and a colloquium on Monday nights which is pass/fail and you get to listen to guests come and speak. Last night, we got to meet and have free pizza with the president of fsu, which was really cool. Another good thing is that even if you have a bad housing priority number, you can still apply and get a good dorm. I didn’t get accepted til the end of march, but still got this nice dorm. Definetly something you should look into.
