So now that I’ve been accepted to my various colleges, I need help deciding which one to go to! I’ve come to the BU boards, because I’ve just visited, and you guys are the most active :)

I’m looking to major in Engineering: Computer Science and to minor in Japanese. (also to take a year abroad at some point).

I’ve been accepted to the following schools, and am wondering what you guys consider to be the best for the aforementioned things.

Virginia Tech Honors Engineering
Penn State U. Park Engineering
Boston U. Engineering

I don't know enough about V Tech or Penn to compare, but I do know that engineering is one of the specialties at BU that we are known for. My best friend is in engineering and loves the program. He works very hard but finds it very rewarding. Lots of research opportunities available to students. The building is state of the art. Lots of cool gadgets and machines that I can't possibly understand lol. Seeing as engineering is a field that BU is widely known for, I would definitely check it out.

Engineering is not a single field. Most schools tend to be known more for one area than just for "engineering" in general. BU, for example, is well-known for biomedical engineering and some others I don't remember.

I'm a sophomore in Biomedical Engineering at BU, so if you have any specific questions you can shoot them my way. Although Lergnom is correct about most schools being known for a certain area of engineering (BU is known for biomed because it is ranked 7th and 8th for graduate and undergraduate, respectively, in the country), BU is well known for its engineering school in general. The three schools that BU gets the most respect for and that have students with higher average stats than the average stats of the entire student body are SMG (School of Management), COM (School of Communication), and ENG (School of Engineering).
