Hi,

I'm about to write my second (optional) essay for Harvard. I'm debating between two possible topics, my passion for art and my time at Harvard Summer School.

Should I focus on MY passion, or my passion for the SCHOOL?

I suggest that you write both of them first and then choose which one you like better (if you have enough time). Also, you can plan out the contents for both topics first and then decide which topic is more interesting, personal, special, etc.

thanks elfelf. I definitely think the art one will be more personal, but I think the summer school one may show my interest toward harvard more... is it better to highlight how much I like the school in my essays?

no, I think it's better to show YOURSELF and reveal who you are. That's what harvard wants to see I think, not why you want to go, more why you would FIT at harvard? if you get what I'm saying?

yeah earth dragon, I think I get what you're saying. Thanks!

123orange Harvard already knows that you enjoyed summer school there. They see that you went to summer school in your application. They know you must have enjoyed it or else you would not have applied for early acceptance. I would not write about this.

If you are going to write an optional essay it should shed light on a part of you that they might not have been able to know from the application

I think collegebound5 is trying to say that it's better to write about your passion for art........but I'm not so sure...

and again? I'm not sure I really got it the first five times.

Sorry. I thought I sent it once. I have no idea how it came multiple times

I thought it had to do with the signature 5 in your sn. hehe
