Which GPA Is More Important To The Adcoms?

Is it the GPA you had at the time you applied or the GPA you had when you update your grades for the Fall?

stop playing mind games....the GPA including Fall is the final and only GPA the UCs (assuming u mean UC) take into consideration.

Wait, includng Fall? I thought they only consider Fall grades if you are borderline. This is the reason why I asked.

umm.. i don't think they even start looking at the application until after the update... why else would it take so long??!

Hmmm... Are you sure? lol. Gabe! Where are you when I need you!

Haa...hi. Hobo and futebol are a bit off. It is correct that some schools do not use your fall grades for anything--we found this info from what is distributed to community college transfer counselors. The schools receive an initial copy of your application that does not include the fall update (obviously). So for some schools they don't even need to bother looking at your update unless you are borderline. (Keep in mind that this can really never be a bad thing--if your GPA is too low for fall to matter, it's better to get a quicker decision, and likewise if your GPA is high enough for fall not to matter.) For schools like UCLA and UCB, they probably always consider your GPA including fall (Berkeley certainly does).

AHHHHHH, alright. Thanks for clarifying that up gabe!

booo.. i raised my gpa in the fall...

but thats good for your top choices!

for me, my gpa dropped .05...:( ....but i worked and took some hard classes...o well what the hell

futebolista,

What is your stats again? Major, GPA, school applied to, etc.

molecular biology
3.75 (3.8 b4 fall)
UCB

Fall quarter: 3.61
ECs: Cafeteria worker, foreign language table host, some pharm. work.

Impressive!

nice 3.75 at UCSD is impressive especially for the sciences...

the sad thing is i'm doing really well this quarter and i think my gpa will rise again =(

hobo, so you attend UCSD? I did not know this...

thx...u have some very competitive stats there too nikkei :)

and hobo, i think u have a good chance to UCLA! Don't fret over it; i'm sure you'll end up in a better place than where u are now.

nah, futebolista goes to UCSD. I go to UCR

I'm just disappointed i didn't do so well my first year, really could have done better but oh well, no point in worrying since its already over.

my gpa jumped from a 3.43 to a 3.53 this past fall, they sure as hell better consider it. lol

Sandkicks, I know what you mean lol. You are a poli sci major, right? Anyways, good luck and I hope that you get accepted to your university of choice.

they consider it don't worry....the fact is most community colleges transfers I think transfer after two years and that's way too short of a time to fully judge a student...

I'm a history major.goodluck to you too nikkei
