Which GPA is used to determine ELC status for UC's - capped or uncapped?

Title pretty much says it all - do UC’s use uncapped or capped 10-11 GPA to determine ELC status? I read in a couple places that it’s uncapped, but I would like to make sure…

bumping before i sleep lol

PLEASE answer this - very important

This is difficult information to find! It is clear that with the “Statewide path” they use the capped GPA. But in the description of the “Local path” (ELC) it is not stated. I have seen contradictory opinions on this from different unofficial sources.

I am assuming it is the capped UC GPA since UCLA/UCB are the only UC’s that actually have stated they use the uncapped UC GPA. Since the Statewide path uses the UC capped, for consistency, I would think local ELC eligibility would be based on the same UC GPA.

You do realize that ELC only matters if you want to go to Merced right?

@BunnyBlue Agreed, many sources have said uncapped but there is no specific statement on the UC website. @Gumbymom That’s a good point. However, I was thinking it might be uncapped since ELC is based on your own high school, and number of honors/APs varies from school to school? @notveryzen Well I guess to some extent yes, but it can only help to be in the top 9% of your class, especially if your school doesn’t rank otherwise.
