Which GPA would appeal better?

Weighted: 4.3191/4.5

Unweighted and colleges only look at unweighted regardless

Alright. Though this is for a scholarship and they make me choose between weighted and unweighted.

Your unweighted looks better because it’s nearly perfect. Rigor (honors AP) will show up on course description.

Solidarity is wrong. They do not look at unweighted GPA regardless. When a school’s rank is based on weighted GPA, even non-ranking schools, then the weighted is what they use to compare applicants from the same school. After that they use the unweighted to compare to applicants from other schools.

Because there are so many different weighting schemes, the question is unanswerable.

FWIW: In addition to the above secondary school report (SSR) that your guidance counselor sends to colleges explaining your high schools grading system and your overall ranking (even if your high school does not rank), each high school sends their school profile to each college you apply to, which explains the high school’s grading system and rigor of courses. If you haven’t seen your high school’s school profile, ask your GC for a copy. Here are several samples:

I looked at the profiles for Boston Latin and Stuy, and oh my god. Those schools are ridiculous. We’re not in the same league as them… I guess we know who’s getting into the Ivies.
