I was accepted to both universities, but I am wondering which has a better business school.

Good question. My son was accepted at CP SLO for Industrial Technology, but also accepted at UCSB for Computer Science, and UCSC for Biomolecular Engineering/Bioinformatics. Now he needs to pick the best option.

[Top Undergraduate Business Programs 2010 - Businessweek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?)

Cal Poly sits at #64 on the Business Week rankings for undergrad business programs in the nation. Only other private CA school on the list is the Haas School of Business at UCB. Cal Poly’s OCOB is pretty consistently ranked as the 2nd public undergrad b-school in CA.

Also, coming from an OCOB student, I love it here. Great professors, amazing job opportunities, gorgeous location…I’d recommend it :)

@rbrian7- Cal Poly business school is pretty good, but the teaching implementations their can be frustrating. As for prestige, I would recommend CSULB. Its an amazing school for business.

@rivercatdad. I would definitely choose UCSB over cal poly. A degree from UCSB for computer science is by far MUCH superior to cal poly IT program. Although his choice in UCSC in bio molecular engineering is a fast growing career. I would have to choose UCSC in the end. Bio molecular Engineering is the future. Glad to see your son is interested :)

Did you graduate or have any bad experience in Cal Poly? May I know how did you make your conclusion on bad things about CP?

FunnyorCPA is just a ■■■■■.

He is going around all the boards making random negative comments about Cal Poly for kicks.

He said in his other posts that he knows UCI b-school undergraduates all find jobs now. This definitely can be true, that is when they finally graduate their first batch of graduates in the future, given their b-school just started up not long ago.

Yes, FunnyorCPA did have a bad experience…not in Cal Poly, but in life.

Between SLO and LongBeach, SLO hands down.

I would say only SDSU’s business program can be running with SLO in all CSU campus. SDSU’s program is bigger, but SLO’s have a more selective student body.

Thanks #3… OOS son has been accepted at SLO for Business, also USF,LMU, SCU. We think SLO would be best value - and love the location & feel of campus, but are worried that Calif budget woes will soon expand past the Community College’s and sink the CalState system before it’s allowed to impact the UC system. But we’re thousands of miles away, and wonder what the locals are thinking. KNowing what you do, would you & your classmates enter SLO again?

So are you Fermium!

@lono15, SLO probably would be your best value, considering USF, LMU and SCU are all private universities. That being said, I have friends at each of those schools that love it. SCU has a great b-school.

I too love the location and feel of the Poly campus. The CA budget problems are hitting at every level, from jc’s to the UC’s. The UC campuses saw 33% tuition increases last year…so, at every level, it’s rough. Knowing what I do now, I would still come to Cal Poly. It’s still cheaper than my alternatives were (Pepperdine, UCSD) and I do love it here. It’s a great value for a business degree. I haven’t heard any of my friends say they wish they had gone elsewhere!

Hope that helps. :)

I just read this today, so they’re still in the top business schools for undergraduates:
