I am a rising senior in high school. Both are science research internships. One is at a nationally well-known hospital and another is at a national climate institute. I won't name names because of privacy issues.

Both offer generous stipends and the commute is similar. However, the hospital internship is full time and the national lab is half-time. As a rising senior, I know I'll be working on stuff like college apps and studying some stuff before school starts, so my question for all of you is whether a full-time job would be a reasonable undertaking for a rising senior. I've already gone on college tours and such, so it'd just be the applications and some studying for the courses I'll be taking in the fall.

I really love the hospital internship because it's close to me personally. It was a more competitive process as well, since it's open to college undergrads and med school students, whereas the national climate lab is for high school students only. So I'm really leaning towards the hospital internship...but would that be too much work for the summer before senior year? I understand it really depends on the person, so I'd love to hear your advice and experiences.

And the bias in this post is pretty obvious...so feel free to give me opposing advice. :)
