Which is a better choice for math:

I am currently taking Algebra 2 online. I will be done by about mid-june. I have a 97 in the class. Should I:

1) skip Pre-calc and go straight into ap ab calc
2) do pre-calc in the summer, then go to ap bc calc
3)skip pre-calc and go straight to ap bc calc
4) Do pre-calc over next year, then bc calc the year after

2 or 3, but it depends on your abilities.

I think #2 would be the best option.

you’ll regret not having a strong background in trigonometry,
it’ll shaft you later when your prof’s doing a derivation on the board
and he uses those trig identities like it’s nothing

2
3
4 or 1

Depends on your abilities… really…

Calculus is the one class you don’t take out of sheer ego. For many, including me, BC’s very difficult. Alg II is a complete joke by comparison.

I’d look at many things before… how hard is your school’s calc class? How well do you do in math? Would you mind looking at what calculus has in store for you before deciding? Are you going to be swamped with other difficult courses?

2) sounds most feasible
take precal in summer, learn trig
do bc calc (my school makes you pick between ab and bc, obviously all the over achievers pick bc)

I wouldn’t do #1 or #3. And I (personally) could not see myself taking classes over the summer (#2). Realistically, I’d go with #4, unless you are really motivated; then do #2.

Number 4 because it sonuds like that you are a soph now… and you have two years to get upto BC if you really want to.

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend that you skip precalculus. If you really enjoy math, I would do option 2. If not, take precalculus during the school year next year. I think you will find that option to be the least stressful.

I did #2 as did 5 other people in my school and we all turned out fine.

Don’t skip precalc.
You will need the trig. Trust me.
Option 2 is the best.

Don’t do 1 or 3. Sounds like you’re a solid math student so I recommend 2, but Calculus is very difficult for most people so a good background via option 4 may be better for you.

I’m doing ALG 2 online and will be done in the early summer as well. Either way you should take Pre-Calc next. I don’t know if you should squeeze it into the last months of summer unless you think you are capable.

I’d choose 2. Definitely don’t skip precalc. A solid background in trig is very important.

depends on your math background and how good you are with creating expressions out of patterns. if you’re a “mathlete” who knows what you’re doing, I say, 3. otherwise, do 2 or 4.
