I have been accepted at both the University of Rochester and the University of Richmond but have only visited Rochester. I love the University of Rochester but I hate the cold (however, I could put up with it). They are both ranked the same on US News and Report, but which one is better?

Rochester is more prestigious but Richmond has the better college atmosphere.

Really? I feel like more people have heard of Richmond than Rochester.

Rochester used to ranked in the top 20 and they have some very strong programs. But I think Richmond would be more fun and closer to the typical college atmosphere especially with the warmer weather.

What is your major? U Rochester is a university. U Richmond is an LAC. Different cultures and climates. There are lots of grad students at U Rochester. I think a strong graduate program is generally a good thing for undergraduates. But, maybe you feel differently. Selectivity is about the same.

My major will probably be phsycology. How come Rochester went down in the rankings?

U Rochester has a pretty good reputation for psychology, especially clinical. The U of Rochester actually went up in the US News rankings from 37 to 34.
