What is the best way other than flying out of state college to get kid to pittsburg airport to fly across country to come home for Christmas Break

perhaps he could hitch a ride with a friend/student going home to Pittsburgh for the holidays? Does Penn State have a “ride board”?

Another option is megabus, though that takes 3 hrs. to downtown pittsburgh- then he’d have to take bus or taxi to the airport.

are there no flights available from State College airport?

there is but I am looking for flights out of state college for Christmas break and they are very expensive. thank you for your post

I’d look at Megabus to Philly or Pittsburgh, then find a way to the airport from the drop-off

[Fullington Trailways](http://ticketing.fullingtontours.com/)

$28 to Greyhound station @ downtown Pittsburgh and then a taxi to the airport. Which may be so close to a SC/Harrisburg/Pburgh flight that you just fly out of SC. Also, there’s an Amtrak station in Lewistown, about 30 minutes from SC. Also, often around Christmas break Greyhound runs special buses to Philly/Pburgh airports. Keep a weather eye and you might see the announcements

thank you greenbutton for your post

Lots of people from Baltimore go to Penn State, did you check out the flights out of BWI? I think it is a shorter drive to Balt then Pitt too, but I could be wrong!

State College to BWI Airport 185
State College to Pittsburgh Airport 153

What airlines are you considering?

My son has flown from State College to Washington-Dulles and then has gone to Houston, Dallas, and Indianapolis from there. All on United.

I was just looking at the Fullington site and noticed this–

YORK/BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON EXPRESS
York Stop: $32 each way | Timonium & BWI Stops: $42 each way | New Carrollton Stop: $46 each way
**This bus does not run every week, please make sure you check the date of departure before you purchase tickets. During the Fall Semester, this express does not run on home football weekends.

I would guess there are busses to BWI at break.
