Which is better Villanova or BC??

This is a serious question, i am not a troll or anything like that.

I would like a logical comparison of the two and not just "this is the college i go to so, yep its better."

Here is information I came up with comparing the two, but I know there are other factors, which you guys can point out to state which is better.

Nova avg ACT score: 30
BC avg ACT score: 31

US news ranks BC at #33 (Based off memory)
US news ranks Nova on a totally different list as #1 in regional North Universities. (tough to compare based on US news putting them in different categories.)

Business week ranks Nova undergrad b school as #7 and BC biz school as #16.

Barrons ranks both Nova and BC as Most competitive: in the same category as the ivys, gtown, ND, JHU etc.

According to the National Merit website: BC in their 2010 freshman class has 12 merit scholars and Villanova has 9. (BC is a larger school, approx 11,000 compared to 7000).

BC has a greater endowment at 1.5 billion and Nova has at 300 million.

To me they look pretty similar, but everyone has different in puts...what do you guys think?

There is one on the BC thread…For my interests Villanova is better, but everyone is different…I like how villanova is strong in a lot of arenas, sports, business, science, engineering, etc…From a totally academic objective stand point BC is better if you are not going into business or engineering. If you like philly over boston, basketball over football, jesuit over augustinian, then you have something to think about it. For the most part I think the schools are pretty similar academically.

Pretty comparable. BC is much more selective with an acceptance rate around 30% (compared to Nova’s 45%(ish)) BC has better SAT scores, but not by much. Here’s a college board done comparision. [College Search - compare colleges and universities side-by-side](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

I think BC has a slight edge over Nova is all areas but business.

For my course of study in engineering Villanova was better and so I picked Nova over Boston College, but both are great schools and can get you where you need to go.

Also both have a similar academic pool and draw from each other. Under BC’s data set, it states a few schools which are listed as top choices for accepted students who chose BC and one of which is Villanova.
Under Villanova’s sets it states that BC is listed as a top choice for accepted students who chose Nova instead.

knight2011, If you were to post this on the BC Forum, you would get a whole different “slant” on the answer to your question-- and then some!

Yeah I did post the same question on the boston college forum
