Which is more important 12th marks or 11th marks?

I am an Indian stidying in the CBSE syllabus.
I am hoping to get 85% in 11th. But I am very confident I can get 97% in 12th. So which is more important 11th grades or 12th grades (first term and half yearly) ?

I am going to apply during mid-November this year after my 12th half yearly marks come out.

I am planning to apply to:

  1. Stanford
  2. MIT
  3. UC Berkeley
  4. Purdue
  5. UCLA
  6. Georgiatech
  7. Caltech
  8. Harvard

85% in 11th is a little low. Keep in mind that there’ll be tons of applicants with 90+.

if you get A+ grade in all subjects (which almost 50% of applicants to MIT, Stanford etc will have), you have a good shot. If you get 85%, you chances are not nil, just a little lower.

97% or 93% in board won’t matter. They won’t see them for admission. Your mid-terms matter though. Score well in 12th mid-terms. Preferably, show an improvement from 11th.
