Asking for a friend who does not have a college confidential account. Which UC would be the best UC for a future career in pharmacy? Also what major would that be?
Also a list of CSUs (safety schools) would be helpful
Your friend can easily get a CC account, but ok, I can try to help.
A doctor of pharmacy program is generally 4 years.
Some people complete the prerequisites before getting admitted to a PharmD in 2 years at a community college or at a 4-year college or university. Others take 3 years, or some complete a 4 year undergraduate degree.
You can major in anything so long as the prerequisites are gulfilled.
Pre-pharmacy is an intention, not a major. One could major in chemistry, biology, Spanish, history, political science if getting an undergrad degree - it doesn’t matter.
That’s what I told her. However, she rarely needs advice, so she finds it easier for me to post this for her.
UCSF School of Pharmacy is ranked #1
Thank you but what about for undergrad?
Some pharmacy schools require a 4 year undergrad degree but some require only the prerequisites and not a degree. Look at each school’s website for specifics.
All the UCs are good in preparing you to get into a pharmacy.school. I believe more people from the UC system get into a pharmacy school than from the CSU system. Just work hard in school and get top grades, especially for the high ranking schools such as UCSF, USC and UCSD. Same for the out of CA state pharmacy schools too.
