i was wondering which requires more work. i know classes vary tremendously, though i get the feeling seminars are easier. or are they? any comment would be appreciated

My literature seminar was 3 shorter (3 page) papers and a final 10+ page paper. The subject was also relatively challenging, and there was usually about 100 pages of reading per week, in addition to research for the final.

For writing 20 in the second semester, my work was easier - only 4 shorter papers (3-5 pages) done in drafts so you could get feedback before submitting them for a grade. There was very little reading and not too much research.

It really depends on your individual classes since some seminars will be easy and most discussion, and some writing 20's will have heavy workloads. My two professors aren't teaching in the spring, but I found writing 20 to be significantly easier.

yeah, my roommate and I were both in the same writing 20...most people said it was easy...3 short papers (3-5) and 1 final (7-9). It was literature-based so we basically read books and discussed them in class.

However, her seminar consisted of 1 short 1 page paper, 1 5-10 page final paper, and basically just discussion and all. She really didn't think it was all that difficult, and I saw her working so much more on other classes. My history seminar required a billion pages of boring (kind of biased because I'm a science person, but it really was dry) reading a week, biweekly responses, and a final 10+ page paper. It wasn't difficult material, but I was constantly doing something for the class.

To sum it up, our Writing 20 was decent, my seminar harder, hers easier...so it completely depends.
