Any ideas on what LACs (Not universities!) have the best social life/parties. Looking for a social life that isnt too dry but also not a social life full of rowdy drunk kids who dont show up to class after a long night out. Any views on social life on campus/schools that are located near a bunch of others/city location etc. Any favorites?

Colgate has a lot of parties, but is extremely isolated, so the only parties are Colgate parties.

Dartmouth has a huge party scene, but I don't know if you count that as a LAC. It's sort of on the border.

Hopefully Colgate......

from what ive noticed it is a very big party school, along with most of the better schools in the Patriot League status. Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh are all probably similar, small towns, frats, etc. all of them have big party school reputations, along with Holy Cross and Trinity

Would suggest Williams, Holy Cross, Colgate, and Bowdoin.

The problem with LACs being party schools is that it can't happen during the week. The academics are too strenuous and difficult and because you're in a class of about 10 students, the professor knows when you've been out the night before. The partying goes on on the weekends which doesn't mean that the LACs are any different from any other college campus. The party-hearty situation is probably more serious at the large state universities (look at what's happening in Colorado?!) where you're in a class with 150 kids and can get away with sleeping through the lecture and discussion.

It's probably true that the more remote LACs do have a party scene; even Amherst has a reputation for overindulgence. It's probably easier to cite the LACs that don't have such a culture, namely Swarthmore, Grinnell, Claremont/McKenna, Pomona and Reed, where the party stimulants and distractions are probably of a different nature.

Hmmm when I went to Williams as a prospie NOTHING was going on. There were no parties at all.

I heard that Williams had a bit of a problem when it came to drinking.....Trinity was always a big party school.......we used to call it "Camp Trin".....sounds like it still is...
