LAC that likes to party??

Essentially, I’ve worked really hard in high school and I’m now focusing on top-tier schools (likely LACs). But, as part of leaving high school behind, I want to go to a school where kids work hard but party hard too

What are LACs that have a bit of a party reputation but equally strong academics? If it helps to place me, I have a 35 ACT and will have 3.9 GPA by the end of high school.

Depauw university

Middlebury
Colgate

Bucknell

There was just a thread with almost exactly the same title:

Washington & Lee.

Colgate, Trinity

Washington and Lee(one of the most conservative colleges in the country)
DePauw
Colgate
Hamilton

A small university like Notre Dame or Lehigh might work too.

ND with 8,000 undergrads feels smaller because it lacks mega-dorms and has a residential system that fosters relationships throughout the four years. It’s a work hard party hard school but drinking and drug use is quite moderate, but legendary tail-gaiting.

Along the same lines Wake Forest and Vanderbilt might work too.

Lehigh is classic Pennsylvania work hard party hard. You are walking distance to a new casino as well.

Holy Cross also has a reputation for hard partying and oppressive academic workload.

Colby!

My nightmare will come true if my kid’s college appears in either thread, lol. :-q

They know how to party at Kenyon, too, @Lindagaf!

LAC University, University of LAC, & LAC College. Good luck!

CMC

@doschicos I know, I know :slight_smile:

Lehigh, Bucknell, Colgate, Union, Denison. I get the impression that Duke and Vanderbilt students party too! Bith are bigger schools.

Vandy and Duke are both RUs with enrollment over 10,000.

The list of LACs where students don’t like to party would be much shorter.

My son goes to Sewanee which appears to fit your criteria. The party appears to start on Thursday.

Ouch. At $65K/year, I would think “party school” would be at the bottom of the primary reasons to choose list. Better yet, maybe it should be considered a negative. How these kids party and keep their grades up is beyond me. And why adults condone it baffles me as well. BTW, I’m not a prude at all and like a good party but some of these threads make it sound like it could be a deal-breaker.
