So first a background,my native tongue is Portuguese(Fluent),I know pretty well conversational English, studying the more formal one used in SAT.My plan is to take Math II,Physics,Chemistry and I think it could be a nice thing to have a 700+/800 in some language SAT subject to stand out.I´m aiming for Ivys and similar level(Stanford/Caltech/MIT…) do you think it is a good strategy ?I have strong ECs and GPA.Which language do you think it would be easier to achieve 700+/800 between French/Italian/Spanish/German ?I have more than one year till aplying.
A language SAT will not make you stand out, so don’t do it for that reason.
Obviously Spanish would be easiest since, in addition to both being Romance languages, both have a great deal of vocabulary that is identical or similar, although the pronunciation is totally different. The grammar is also very similar.
@skieurope I trully enjoy the concept of learning new languages/cultures.
I´m aiming engineering/natural sciences so I thought it would show that I was going out of my confort zone(exact sciences) and it would be different from the others,so do you think it wouldn´t worth it?
If you like learning new languages and cultures, by all means learn a new language. It will, however, not be a differentiating factor in your application.
