Which laptop to choose?

<p>I have narrowed my search down to two laptops and want to see what others opinions are.
Other suggestions are welcome but these are pretty much at my budget, and I will have to pay it off during the summer. </p>

<p>I think i will go with the HP, but the Toshiba is so enticing!
Which one would you pick?</p>

<p>i’d go with the HP. Not only is it $150 cheaper, it has an aluminum body which makes it more sturdy. As far as I can see, you lose out on a slot load cd drive if you go with the HP. </p>

<p>If you want a comparable laptop with appx the same price, wait till june 27th when HP comes out with the envy 14 that is as far as i can tell the same price and specs as the toshiba but with an aluminum body.</p>

<p>Omg, thanks so much after looking into the envy 14 it is a steal and should last me for some time.
I’ll most likely get it in July or preorder it if I can. Again, thanks</p>

<p>Wow. I’m so glad that you said something about the Envy 14. I am reading about it now and it sounds perfect. It’s also the “new” 14.5" screen, not the 14 flat like I thought it would be, which means the Envy 14 just got pushed to the front of my list. (It also has a slot-loading CD drive, which is awesome).</p>

<p>You guys probably don’t want to preorder a envy 14. Because HP has such a bad track record with reliability and quality and stuff you should pobably wait for some reviews from reliable sources such as cnet. Also…the claims that the envy 14 makes sound just too good for $999. I’m not saying that it won’t live up to expectations. It could very well be the new precedent for PCs…just make sure first before you invest</p>

<p>Hp has a bad track record with reliability because compaq is now part of HP and everyone knows that compaq is pretty cheap and everyone knows the saying “you get what you pay for.” I don’t think that HP would skimp on its envy line since the envy’s are HP’s premium line. But I too, would not be lining up to buy one of the Envy’s. Although I plan on buying one, I’ll wait patiently until the beginning of the school year to buy one.</p>

<p>In response to the envy 14 being price at $999 sounds too good to be true: take a look at the envy 17. The project manager said it would be priced at $1399 and looky here, it is.

<p>HP’s envy line is suppose to be a direct competitor to Apple’s Macbook pro lines so it would make sense for it to be priced significantly lower if HP wants to achieve that goal.</p>

<p>While I agree with you, I’d still hold off on buying one until reviews are out. I too thought that all manufacturers must have great quality with their premium brands, but with a recent fiasco with certain Toshiba Qosmio models breaking down and subsequent horrible customer service even for their top tier laptops, I’m a bit more reserved with judgement like that.</p>
