which looks better? two AS subjects or one A-level?

Since I am supposed to decide what to study next year, here is my question:
for the college admission officers, (be them in the U.S. or the U.K.),
which makes me look better? study two AS subjects that demostrate my broad interests,
or one A-LEVEL subject that demostrates my studying ability?

by the way, I am studying chem, Econ, Physics, Math and psychology now (AS)
and I am planning to do chem, Econ, Math in A-level next year, with history and geography in AS level. (so 3 a-levels + 2 AS)

or do you think it is better to study chem, econ, math, psychology in A-level + either history or geography? (so 4 A-levels + 1 AS)

I think 4 A-Levels + 1 AS would look better. Besides, your choice of A-Levels (chem, econ, math, psychology) already demonstrates breadth.

BTW what are you planning to study at the university level ?

4 A Levels and 1 AS

definitely 4A and 1 AS

surely 4A and 1 AS

The answer is unanimous, but do remember that studying one A Level is nowhere equal to studying one AS Level - even in an “easier” subject like Psychology.

wow, you guys’ answers are surely unanimous! and thank you all for replying!

but what if you know the future psychology teacher is a very very very veryyyy lousy one? (this is actually why I’m considering dropping the subject even though I found it very intriguing.) and that you are really interested in history and geography?

…but never mind, this question can be a hard one to answer. So now what I need to think about is which one, history/geography, to take.

@bruno123: well I initially planned to do econ/ PPE at Oxford (hopefully), but lately I found myself to be very uncertain about my major–my idea just changed every now and then! and now I think I wanna do some econ, history, political science, philosophy, environment. (that’s quite a lot) so generally humanity and social science.
so I kinda need to go to an american college:) hehe

I’d take Geography hands down.

Personally, I’d choose the latter option. It’s best to study subjects in depth, and if your teacher isn’t good enough, then pick up a decent book on psychology and self-study. But if you are very interested in history and geography… are you sure you can’t study one of those at A-level? 4 A-levels and 1 AS level is better than the former option.

Good luck! :)

@theGame: why geography?
is it because it is easier…?

@python38: as you can see, I didn’t study either of them this year at AS level, because my school just opened these subjects. so yeah, I can’t study either of them at A-level.

thank you guys again.:)
