I want to pursue the career path of becoming a high school academic advisor. What major would I need to go about that? And is a Master's needed?

Thank you.

Generally a Master’s in School Counseling. It depends on the state you want to work in, and a 4-year degree with a teaching certificate is enough in some states.

Allyphoe, thank you so much!

As far as majors for your undergrad, though, a lot of things can qualify: Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, English, Women’s Studies, Religious Studies, Africana Studies… so many things! Each master’s program has their own req’s, though, so you should look into it-- some, for example, will want you to take Intro Psych, Developmental Psych, Psych Stats, etc.
