Hi guys,

I am a fall admit to Cal transferring from cc. After completion of this spring semester at San Diego Mesa College, I will have over 90 semester units, with at least 80 deemed "transferable" with a Berkeley equivalent by assist.org.

UCB's website says that they will only accept 70 max, so which will they take? I've already been accepted and SIR'd, so if they review my transcripts over the summer and decide I'm over a unit cap can my admission be rescinded?

I know the only way to find out for sure is to talk to admissions, but I'm still curious as to your thoughts. Thanks so much!

They will award you subject credit you for all classes you’ve taken, but they will only put 70 units towards the total amount of units you need to graduate.

You will get subject credit for everything you take.

When you start a Berkeley, you will have 70 units at start and require 120 units to graduate.

It doesn’t really matter which of the transferable units they will take. You will get subject credit for all but the number of units that counts towards your graduation units will only be 70.

Thanks for your responses so I guess I’ll get plenty of subject credit to satisfy the breadths/prereqs and just end up spending my last semesters taking a bunch of personal interest classes just for credit. I’m cool with that.

Basically My friend is transferring with 70 and only needs 8 more classes to technically graduate (in which she has all the pre-reqs done) which leaves her with about 18 units worth of random classes she just has to take to accumulate 120 units necessary for graduation. You should consider picking up a minor if you’re in that position also.
