Which of my colleges do I have a reasonable shot at?

Hi!

I'm an international student from a relatively underrepresented country in the Middle East. I'm Kurdish (a very underrepresented minority in American colleges). I can speak two languages aside from English. I have a really different background than most American applicants--single mother, witness to some ethnic violence, moving to a new country, etc.

I'm a solid, mostly B+ with a few As, student.
I scored a 26 on my ACT (The math and science wrecked my score, I got a 31 on the reading and a 29 on the English). I have great recs from my teachers and guidance counselor and am involved in many activities both in and outside of school.

So...
What are my chances at,
GW
American
Villanova
Columbia
U of Richmond
Virginia
Ohio State
Wisconsin
Northeastern (I have a sibling who goes there as well)

Also any other schools that you would recommend for an international relations/affairs major would be greatly appreciated.

GW: Low Reach
American: Match
Villanova: Low Reach
Columbia: Very High Reach
U of Richmond: Low Reach/High Match
Virginia: Reach

The thing that will really hamper your application is your ACT.

What is your GPA? There is a big difference in college admissions from a 3.0 and a 3.5 (your vague description of grades could make either GPA true), though I am guessing you are around a 3.1-3.2. Columbia is going to be unrealistic, your grades and scores are too low. American and GW will probably be high reaches. I will try and re-chance once I know your GPA.

My GPA is a 3.3
Also, I go to a very competitive high school and colleges know that.

I won’t need financial aid if that would affect anything.

If your school is in a country that the colleges don’t commonly receive applicants from I am not sure how familiar they will be with your school/competitiveness…

Anyway, so your GPA and rank are still a bit low, it is not as bad if your school is super competitive. But the issue you then reach is that your scores don’t line up with what you are saying regarding your GPA. So basically you are not in an ideal situation, honestly I doubt most colleges are familiar with your school and your SAT is rather low. That being said I stick with my initial chancing and agree with Catria regarding the schools I did not specifically mention in my earlier post.
