Feel free to add more universities (super reach , reach , match safety … anything )

Thanks a lot for your help .

University of Illinois
Penn State
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
UT Austin
Ohio State

I recently came across University of Southern California … (+ the chicks )

How good is this university … reputation and is it good for engineering ?

Bb uu mm pp

Calm down with the bumps
it was 20 Mins

Sorry !!

10 Char

USC ? … U of washington ? … Penn state … Case western … how are these universities for MEch Eng ?

BUMP …

Its been a long tyme !

Bump it up for me !!

JHU and Duke are both pretty solid for Mech Engineering and a good amount of alums from both schools do well in the engineering field.

Jhu and duke would also be huge reaches

i was saying that in response to that metal person or whatever who said JHU and Duke would not be good choices for Mech E.

and of course they are huge reaches, but are they any bigger than Princeton? lol

BUMP …

So far my list is :-
CMU
Harvey mudd

What should i be looking at ?

bump … …

…

WanToBeABrownie, make it four.

those top 4 should be:
Stanford
MIT
Berkeley
and
Northwestern

However, if you’ll get into all four unis, go to Stanford. Go to California as much as possible. For me, the US is California and California is the US. That’s what I’ve felt when I was in the US and that’s exactly what my friends and relatives felt too when they were there as a student and as employees. If you want to experience “State-side”, live and study in California. In such case, Stanford would be your best option followed closely by UC Berkeley, both have solid names in India, your home country.

About 9 years ago, I applied to a series of US schools. I was turned down at MIT and Berkeley. I did not apply to Stanford or Princeton. But I got into Mudd, Duke, Columbia, UPenn and 4 or 5 other schools. I eventually ended up attending a UK uni. But I would have most probably gone to either MIT or Berkeley had I received an offer from either of them as they were my first and second choices respectively.

Good luck!

RML i am not looking at the best university . Stanford and Mud are definately my favorites . I am looking at an elite university at which I atleast have a shot (I have a feeling … No way MIT … so i wont be applying there) . Just a shot , not a match .

^ You have a shot at all the unis you listed, albeit a very, very long shot. If it’s not going to be costly for you, you better apply to as many schools as you can. Of course, the schools I listed for you are extremely tough schools to get into, but you wouldn’t know…

Georgia Tech should be in your list as well as Purdue, Penn State and UIUC.

oh … k … but the above list is just super reaches for me … i wanted to ask at which of the super reaches is have a good/decent shot.

TY

RML, I disagree with your analysis. In fact, I think many people in the Midwest, South, and even Northeast will disagree your opinion that California = United States. California is an excellent state with the largest state economy. However, I prefer the “old-world” charm, climate, and culture of the Eastern United States.

either of the coasts and your fine. the midwest and south are blah
