Yet I am willing to work my ass off to come up and prove everyone wrong . I am short on time as the applications are already out . I need help from you people on how to improve my app (I know its too late now ) and where should I apply (as I am not familiar with the colleges ... ) . Please recommend some good universities where i will get in , a match and a possible reach . Do I also have to take TOEFL ?

I know this is not even close to good . But can you people please guide/help me ?

Honestly, I don’t know any colleges apart from the top 10-12 so I can’t help you with where to apply. But I can only say that unless you are rich enough to go the US without any financial aid, you’d rather concentrate on a decent Indian university. If you have the money…well, you might be able to try for a mid-low range Univ. Aren’t you going to take the subject tests btw? And I’d advise you take the TOEFL too. It isn’t that important for students with a good CR score, but you might find it useful. Especially if your english communication skills are better than your marks.

Thanks a lot gary7 . I don’t need financial aid . I don’t have time to take SAT subject tests as i will be taking SAT 1 in October . I will try and take it in december .

^^ People know that this thread exists. If they aren’t posting they probably don’t have much to add. Bumping it will only irritate them and prevent them from posting even if they have something to say :P

I don’t know how I stumbled in here, but what kind of SAT do you think you can get in October? Perhaps a 1700 or 1800? What kind of grade is a 55% equivical to in US grades (because in America a 55% would be an E or F, a GPA of 0)? I guess that’s why this is in the Indian forum because they’ll know.

If your GPA converted into American grades would be something 3.0-3.5 and if you think you can get a 1700 or an 1800 try Michigan Tech.

@gary7 - I am sorry . It’s just that i am worried and scared . I have no help either . I contacted EducationUSA , but they too could not help mt out . If there is anyone who can tell me which universities I should look at , I would be great .

So far Michigan Tech - If my SAT score is raise .

@Tetrisfan - can you suggest some university

Try contacting the chopras http://www.chopraconsultants.com/ They do keep a lil track of not-so-good univs I think. Otherwise, no idea. And DO ensure you have good Indian backups. Bluntly going to the US just coz you can afford it won’t necessarily be worthwhile either.

not even, purdue is top notch. you can probably go to a no-name school that ranks in the bottom of the nation. just go to google and search for “top 120 colleges in u.s.”

Places that don’t require SAT will usaually require either an SAT or ACT, and those that don’t require either can pretty much only go off your grades (which don’t seem to be good either, but I can’t really tell). Just keep that in mind. A college which does not require test scores is only easier to get into if you have very good grades. When your grades and test scores match up pretty well, it’s of no advantage.

i am really screwd then . So according to you people which uni’s are a match/reach for me ? . What about Canada ? (Utoronto and Waterloo … do I have a chance ? )
