Which of the top schools don't look at freshman grades

Which of the ivies/top 20 schools don't look at your freshman year grades?

I wouldn't necessarily call it an "Ivie," but University of Michigan throws out freshman year grades.

Bump......

Stanford and the UCs don't.

And how heavily is Freshman year considered by colleges that do look at it?

Generally freshman year isn't heavily considered. It matters a lot less the sophmore and junior years.

aww but thast my best yr

So if I got B's freshman year and then all A's with the hardest courseload, I wouldn't be screwed over for the top 20?

Carnegie Mellon and Princeton don't count freshman grades either.

most schools don;t count freshman grade, even if they do it barely weighs anything

All schools "count" freshman year grades. Each successive year is more important as the courses get more intense and there are more AP's, etc. but no school doesn't look at your performance freshman year as well. What the heck is your high school gpa and class rank anyway if not something that also includes freshman year results?

If they have access to something, they evaluate it. And that includes anything that is publicly available, such as MySpace, YouTube, etc. or anything that can be googled.

aaa...no redcrimblue, some schools completely ignore freshmen grades and all the other ones regard it w/ barely any care. yea...i know i had a 4.0 freshman also O.o

Red, is this true. There's this YouTube video of me ... um.... doing stuff (not anything too stupid). It's like a parody of something. Is that okay?

"If they have access to something, they evaluate it. And that includes anything that is publicly available, such as MySpace, YouTube, etc. or anything that can be googled."

I'm not sure if those in admissions do this (they're usually swamped as it is), but employers will readily do this.

"some schools completely ignore freshmen grades and all the other ones regard it w/ barely any care."

my experience in working in admissions does tend to follow redcrimblue's statement. Colleges get many 4.0's, but what's more impressive: 2.9, 3.4, 3.7, 4.0 or 3.8, 3.8, 3.8, 3.8?? When people apply to college, they have their junior year as their most complete display of work, after that sophomore. I'm surprised to hear of places like Stanford or Princeton just ignoring freshmen year grades ... before clicking on this thread my answer was already "none of the top schools will ignore freshmen grades."
