D got an 800 CR without any prep, but she is an incredible reader. I've been told it's the hardest section to prep for. However, she got only a 720 on Eng Lit- she thinks she "thought" too much, and there was too much ambiguity.

Lol I got an 800 in Math with no prep, and still wasn't impressed. SAT math is so easy! :[

I think I would have been highly embarrassed had I scored less than that on the math section...

800 CR. Seriously, how?

Writing is probably the easiest to learn for. It tests relatively few concepts that, once learned, are pretty easy to point out.

Math I personally find the hardest. Sometimes a problem just doesn't click, and there goes my time and my score.

I think the hardest, in general, is CR. Just a couple misinterpretations or a few words you're not positive on and there goes your perfect.

@pensive: I scored a 720 in CR officially, and depending on the practice test as high as an 800, and I venture to guess I read less than anyone else in my grade. I'm certainly not much of a reader, never was. I don't even read the books I'm assigned for school. Honestly, the last book I read was Harry Potter. How can I score relatively highly? I blame all those video games. Not the shoot 'em up kinds, but you'd be amazed how much of a curiosity for words can be instilled by playing some of the more intellectual adventures, from RPGs to strategy games to puzzlers. I understand that you place a high importance on reading, and I commend you for doing so! I also have no doubt that it helped your daughter score her 800. But realize that there are other ways of building reading comprehension and vocabulary than by reading for leisure, and try not to look down upon those that find enjoyment in other things.

Dear gutter,
I certainly DO NOT look down on anyone! Far be it from me to do so.

I just lament the proliferation of videogames and television viewing that eats up the leisure time of the typical American youth, who averages 5 hrs a day of tv watching and who knows how long on videogames. Reading for pleasure is widely viewed (maybe not on CC, but in the larger society) as boring (by adults, too!), and consequently a lot of students eschew reading for pleasure, to their detriment as a rule.

I'm pretty impressed with the # of students who claim not to read voraciously who score so highly on the CR test. Must be that you are all quite intelligent and able to figure things out on the CR test without the aid of years of recreational reading under your belt. Nice for you. For a lot of people, though, scoring highly is related to a past history of recreational reading.

For that reason I have invited CC readers to encourage the young in their families to do more reading after school, if you haven't already done so. Just a thought.

800M, because it's the only one that means you actually got every question right. You can miss some and still get 800's in the other two sections.

Definately math for me.

CR is by far my best section, lol.

800 in math because I got a 620.

I'd say math, for me, because I suck at it and reading is easy for me, so I do well.

800 CR is beast

800 M. It's so easy to ruin a perfect score with just one silly error, and, of course, it's the most difficult for me.

800 CR. My brain hurts from it and I don't have the stamina to get through every question. Math is easier to complete.

Writing, definitely. You can incorporate educated guessing into your answers to CR and math -- not so writing.

I'd have to say an 800M. My twin sister got an 800CR the first time she took the exam, no studying, so I'm a bit bitter about the 800CR thing ^__^ 800W might be rare, but it's not as impressive to me because it's so subjective.

D got an 800 CR. As others have said, I think it can be attributed to lifelong reading. She would read with her book on one knee and a dictionary on the other. She read all sorts of literature, classics, etc.

I don't know if anyone has said this...but the newest studies suggest that the score on the writing section is a better indicator of success in college than either CR or M, so I think that it would seem the most impressive. (I also got an 800 so I'm sort of biased)

Writing for sure because of the essay. Reading and math can be practiced easily.

"She would read with her book on one knee and a dictionary on the other. "

That sounds so cool!

'It is the rarest. Only 5000 kids score it, whereas math has 9500 kids and CR has about 7500 kids.'

Arachnotron, where do you get these statistics from? Cause I got an 800 in writing, but in Math it seems unattainable.

^...look at CC and notice how about 30% of people seem to have 800s hah
