Which of these is most impressive in YOUR eyes? 800 math, 800 cr, or 800 writing

I'd say math, because that's the only one I don't have an 800 on. I hate the number 780.

the whole writing thing is only because it is so subjective...otherwise cr just cause I'm horrible at it haha

Well for me, I think math because math is my worst section. Heh. :D

However, overall, I think CR 800 is probably the hardest just because it really depends on each test--there's a lot more room to be ambiguous and confusing unlike math and writing (MC that is) which is pretty much straightforward all the time.

A lot of people seem to think that Writing is the hardest but I think it's the section you can score the highest improvement in if you prep enough--I always got around 720 initially in my practice tests but got 800 on the real thing.

My math genius (well not genius, but he was the best math student at his high school - and qualified for AIME every year), never got an 800 in math because he always made at least one careless mistake. He got 800s on CR twice. You can get several wrong and still get a perfect score. While I think writing is the hardest to score well on, I'm less impressed because I don't think the essay scoring valid.

I say an 800 in writing. Not only is it statistically proven that the least people manage it, but American grammar rules and me don't mesh well :p

I think CR is hard but that makes it comparatively easier to get an 800 in because you don't need a near-perfect score like Maths (I got about 3 wrong and still made 800 CR).

I say it depends on the person. If you are analytical/abstract thinker math would be easier.

My non-math daughter got 800 in Math. Go figure. But I think the SAT II is a better indicator of her mathability(is this a word?). She scored low 700.

CR is the hardest. I've been a life long reader and I only scored a 720, so I'm pretty impressed by an 800 CR. 800 Literature is really impressive. That test is a beast.

^ :)

I think I pulled off another 800 CR today. Possibly math. Really worried about W =/

My it got a 2400 with no prep. Guess the chaining and beating worked.

NO WAY! writing is the easiest.

i got an 800 on writing. 750 math, 760 reading.. :(

^Pobrecita! (jk! congrats)

high cr scores are definitely more rare...

Are there statistics? I know that there are the percentiles, but the college board does not break it down further. It would be interesting.
One empirical way to look at it is the data on admissions from colleges.
For example Stanford's admitted freshman for the fall of 2008 were accepted at these percentages:
800 CR 18%
800 M 15%
800 W 21%
And those with 800 in each subsection made up the following percentage of the admitted class:
CR 15%
M 21%
W 14%

This could be interpreted to mean that the 800 on Writing is the rarest since more of those students were accepted yet they made up the smallest percentage of the admitted class. But unfortunately, the data does not indicate those students in both or all three categories.
Just a thought....

I love it.

I scored 800 on Writing and Critical Reading and if i were accepted at Stanford I would only be in the 86th and 85th percentiles respectively.

well if each curve was equally weighted then CR is the hardest, i mean you can sometimes miss 2 and get 800, you cant do that for math,

if CR was as hard as math or writing, only a really small amount of peopel would get 800

^ Less people get 800 on CR than Math. 800 writing is the least impressive and most colleges don't look at the writing section.

I forget where I saw these stats, but I'm pretty sure almost the same amount of people get 800 math and 800 cr but a little over half of that number get 800 writing.

I'm most impressed by 800 math, as I don't think I'll ever break 700 or so. CR, I find the passage questions very easy, and usually know most of the word choice, so I don't find it as impressive. (79 PSAT as opposed to 65 for math)

I think 800 critical reading is most impressive, but usually you can get -2 and still get an 800, so it does have a more generous curve, because it's harder. Writing is probably the easiest. I got an 800 in writing on my first test (Oct. 2008) and an 80 on PSAT writing. So, yeah.
