I am a rising senior and am considering applying to a few schools that are almost impossible to get into with my scores. I have heard that you should always apply to reach schools because you never know what will happen. However, which of these schools are low reach schools for me(schools that I could actually get accepted to despite my low gpa/scores) and which are dream schools(schools I have absolutely no chance of getting into no matter what).

My GPA is 3.74 and SAT is currently 2070. Plan on retaking the SAT in October.

Reach/Dream Schools I plan to apply to:
Washington University in St. Louis
Claremont McKenna College
Pomona College
Stanford University
Northwestern University

Is gpa weighted or unweighted? Class rank?

How? He/she scored 2070.

All of your schools seem like reach schools, but you can have another go for the SAT.

Gpa is unweighted and sat is 1380/1600

And by reach school do u mean I have a chance of getting in?

School doesnt rank but it’d say top quarter. A little towards top tenth

You have given us barely any information here.
If you could provide us some more, then we will be able to tell you whether the are actually “reaches” or “impossibles”.

Im only asking whether they are impossible to get into with my scores. Thats all I want to know. In other words, have people gotten into these schools with similar stats?

Stanford is the only dream. Unless you are an URM

i was also considering applying ED to one of these schools. Which of these schools should I apply ED to increase my chances? I am content with going to any of these schools as they all are basically my dream schools.

geographical diversity makes you a competitive applicant. apply EA to stanford.

Haha I am from Hawaii, let me guess: Punahou? Seabury Hall?

Wait- Hawaiian female wrestler? Sounds like an interesting combination. I’m not sure how much of a boost that gets you, though.

Not much of a boost if one has weak academics: especially the SAT for some of the schools, such as Stanford.

Are you saying that Stanford is the “dream” school? Should I even apply there

Well, with what you provided us, yes.
But I am sure you can retake the SAT and get a better score.
