wow, i'm pretty tired of people with 4.6 gpas and 2360s that have their own fortune 500 companies posting threads w/ titles like: do i have even have a chance? :((((

so i'm posting my own huge reaches! brown, stanford, pomona, swarthmore, wesleyan, wellesley, boston univ, bryn mawr, nyu

the stuff that makes them reaches: an awful experience that led to a 580 math sat II, a 3.7 uw/4.0w gpa, a 117/350 ish ranking (my school is super competitive but doesn't officially rank).

these are what REAL reaches are like. yeeep.

I just want to thank all of you for posting on this thread. I come from a nowhere public school in hicville Wisconsin where everybody complacently enrolls in a UW school. My guidance counselors have never had anyone apply East Coast so I feel like my dreams of NYU, BC, and Brown are a shot in the dark. Thanks for showing your faces amongst the scary academic robots that comprise this website. :D

My big reach is Brown, which I applied ED to. I find out in six days. Here are my stats:

GPA: 4.43/3.43
Rank: 47/398
SATs: V-700, M-640, W-550 (I'm hoping they will overlook this because I have a great essay)
good ecs and leadership (nothing outstanding), went to NC Governor's school for art, great interview.

I have an ok profile, but probably not good enough for Brown.

GPA: 3.0 (Sprinkled with a few Cs and a D... in Precalc. A math class. Damn)
Rank: Not sure exactly... barely top 10%
SAT: V-760, M-680, W-710 (My best hope, but it doesn't quite make up for my GPA)

Well... I don't know my exact GPA... I just know it's in between a 3.0 and a 3.4. I just went with the low one this time. Weird, but, I haven't been too number-focused, or worried about that sort of thing. A lot of the schools I'm applying to are going to be an uphill climb, but if I don't get in then that's it and it's over and there's no crying or freaking out.

I am sure that I'm top 10%, and those are my scores, but that's as much as I do know for sure.

Edit: Our average SAT score is something like 980. And only 30% of seniors take the test at all. So, yeah, tough competition.

haha, i hate goldshadow. i was like, wow...1.8?

we rock. i'm glad icz_skaycho feels better. because i started this post to show that hopefully everyone on cc IS just the freakishly good 1% of applicants.

2140 SAT (750 CR, 660 M, 730 W), 3.9 (soon to be 3.7ish) unweighted, pretty much no ECs other than gymnastics and swim...SAT IIs in Math IIC, Literature, Bio M (guessing 480, 700, and 650 respectively)...
