<p>A friend today at lunch announced her son had just joined the Navy, and was off to “Nuke school” in Jan. My first response was, of course, “Congrats” but my second was “Isn’t he too tall for subs?” She said, at 6’6" he was too tall for subs. So my question is, where would they put a guy too tall for subs after Nuke school?</p>

<p>surface nuc would also be my guess…was he actually told that he was too tall be a doc, or did she just assume he’s too tall? i ask this because on my mid cruise last summer there was an officer on the sub i was on who was 6’7", and he got along just fine i was told…maybe he’d be a bit cramped haha…anyways, yes, he’d probably be tending a reactor on a cvn if he goes the surface track</p>
