Which one is a better school? Villanova or U of Richmond?

I know it is kinda silly to ask this type of question but as an international student I have no clue on the reputation of either university whatsoever. I really want to hear your opinions, which will be appreciated!

Better reputation? In whose mind...the 17 year old high school kids on this board...grad school admissions...potential employers...US News and World Report...get my point? If you pick a school on the basis of how someone else feels about it, you are open for a disappointing 4 years. Go to the two schools and see which one feels better to YOU!

I live abroad.....
I guess you have a point.

U of Richmond and Villanova University are very similar. Both are equally selective and students' SAT scores are approximately equal. Both are private. However, U of Richmond is smaller (2,795 undergrad students).

If money matters, I would go to the one that gives me more money!!!

Thank you bin_1975!
Do you know which college receives more public recognization?

In terms of reputation, IMO both are equally good. Novavilla U is raked # 1 master university in the North. U of Richmond is ranked # 40 national LAC, which is very good.

So your choice would depend on your major. I would look at their web sites and compare. Also, If you do not like cold weather, go South !

Thank you for you suggestion. I think UR is a better match for me. I want to do Finance in college. Both schools have strong finance programs so it really comes down to which college I like more. I love UR's campus and her size. The student teacher ratio at UR is 10-1 which is relatively better than Villanova's 13-1. And their tuitions are about the same. I think I will go to UR.
Thank you again for helping me compare and contrast the two.

Ojin,

You're welcome. Good luck to you at UR. That's an excellent college! (Villanova is an excellent one too!).

Ojin,

I just found out that Villanova ranks # 13, while U of Richmond ranked # 20 among the top 50 undergraduate business schools.

Undergrad - BSchools

I knew that already and I dont think that makes a huge difference between the two. what do you think?

I agree. Go where you like more!

Sounds like you already had your mind made up based on your own research...so why did you care which was more presitgious again??

4mygurl,

I think ojin just wanted to have a second opinion. It's tough because the two schools are equally excellent!

4mygurl, although I had learned that both schools are equally strong in my intended concentration but I wasn't sure which school I should attend. That's way I asked a question about their reputation. I wanted to go the school that has better reputation. Since bin told me that they were equally great, I thought I should go to the one that I like more.

Ok, I am sure bln is a pretty reliable source on that issue. So...good luck.

The site was down...
