Which one should I choose: Yale, USC Med prgrm, or Brown PLME (med)

Which one should I choose: Yale, USC Med prgrm, or Brown PLME (med)
On one hand, I got into the medical programs at Brown (PLME) (3/4th scholarship), and USC (BMD) on a full scholarship, and this would be the more secure path, since I'm guaranteed into their medical school.

On the other hand, Yale is an amazing school, and I've dreamed of going there for a long time...but a very VERY small percentage of students actually make it through pre-med. Also, they didn't give me as much financial aid, but not by a large degree...they paid for over 80% of my tuition. And it's Yale.

I need help choosing from people who have gone through this already :) Also, financial aid isn't TOO important of a factor for me; I know I can pay for all three of these somehow.

thanks :)

Many Yale students go on to medical school. http://www.yale.edu/career/students/gradprof/media/med_school_stats.pdf

I think you should choose Brown PLME.

I was talking to some kids at Princeton who didn’t think Brown’s program was that great, just very selective. I’m kind of confused as to what you mean by a very small % of students make it to med school.

I feel strongly enough about this subject to register for College Confidential just to reply. When I was in your shoes years ago I was deciding between Northwestern’s 6 year med program and Yale and chose the latter. It was one of the best decisions of my life and I have never regretted it. If you are good enough to have those choices you will have no difficulty getting in to a top notch medical school as I did. You will gain a Yale education which you will value forever. You will have so much more to talk about than medicine and be better able to relate outside of the world of medicine. You will have your whole life to read medical journals and attend conferences but when are you going to have time to study Modern Chinese History, Art History, Organizational Behavior, etc? The only benefit of an accelerated program is it costs less saving 1-2 years of college/medical school and having that time to be paid as a physician. In the long run you will earn plenty as a physician, more than enough to pay off aditional loans, and will look back fondly on your Yale years and have a lifetime to use your non-medical education.

thanks YaleGradandDad  that really helped!

To reply to yalegradanddad, Brown’s medical school is also top notch, the program is not accelerated, and you also have lots of freedom to take different classes because of open curriculum, no mcat/gpa requirements, etc
