Hello, I need some advice. First here are some stats:
SAT I: 2150 (M 650 V 750 W 750)
ACT:32
AP's (so far): US Hist: 5 Spanish Language: 4
and here is the problem....
SAT II's: Math IC: 620 US Hist: 640 Spanish: 660
I am going to be a Senior this fall and here are some of the schools that I am looking into (the most selective ones): Cornell, Columbia, Tufts, Amherst, Claremont Mckenna, Wash U, Northwestern, Colgate, Emory
I plan on re-taking some SAT II's in October, and here are my questions: I am going into Pre-calc next year and I need to re-take either Math I or II and I was wondering which one you would reccomend (?), and outside of that which other SAT II's would you reccomend me taking? The Lit test considering my two 750's in verbal and writing? I have been told that I chose some of the most "obnoxious" exams (whatever that means), so any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I realllly want to know just how much weight the SAT II's carry at some of those schools that I mentioned, are they reason alone to keep me out of some of these schools? Will they override what I believe to be good ACT and SAT I scores? please, advise...

Take Math2, no one takes Math1. Take w/e you're best at.

Take Math II even though I am now just going into Pre-calc and would only have one month of pre-calc before taking the test?

pleasee help

If you haven't yet had pre-calc, take Math I.

Second etselec. Also, with 750s in verbal and writing Lit sounds like a good bet for you, but make sure you look at the practice questions on the Collegeboard site before you sign up for the test. It's a weird test - you either get what they're asking pretty quickly, or you find it very difficult no matter how much you study.

People who've studied the material tend to do better on the Math2 test b/c it has a better curve, but if you don't know the material, stock with Math1 anyway. You won't help yourself by taking a test on material you haven't learned.

I found Lit to be a pretty strange test, myself. I also did very well on the Writing exam and figured that Lit would be both enjoyable (relatively speaking) and a good bet for a high score, but it wasn't really either. If you're prepared for a science exam, then you might try going that route, but otherwise, Lit is probably--for better or worse--your best bet. The SAT2s are just not that fun :p Head to the test prep section in Borders and look through some study materials to get a feel for the various tests, and know that as obnoxious as you might find them, other students are probably feeling similarly.

And don't let your SAT2 scores get you down. They're not your strongest suit, but they're also not at the peak of the importance pile. You'll be just fine.

are they enough, on their own, to keep me out of some colleges? I am just trying to get a feel for just how important they are, I mean I got two 5's on two AP tests on two of the same subjects that I did horribly on in the SAT II's..which is odd, but my SAT and ACT scores, I think, are pretty good...so, please, rate just how "screwed" I am
