Which one to choose among NYU-Poly And USC

USC library is apparently good enough for Robert Rodriguez from FPA Capital, who was voted the best mutual manager by Money magazine.

Searching for answers in the library at the University of Southern California, where he was studying for his M.B.A., Rodriguez discovered Benjamin Graham and David Dodd's Security Analysis. Graham and Dodd helped him realize that chasing hot stocks was no way to pile up cold cash; instead, Rodriguez began to look past the fluctuating prices of stocks to determine the enduring value of the underlying businesses.

Pierre's description for Poly is right on the money based on what I've heard from my friends who went there for school.

I see, I wouldn't want to attend the Poly location but New York University in Manhattan was the one I was speaking of. Plus I have no interest in the Poly school. Although many post on here seems to refer to it as a good place for engineers.

Would New York University science school ( such as majoring in biology, pre-med etc...) be located in Manhattan?

yawn
Apparently USC has some big cheerleaders on this thread...

Well USC has a decent engineering school. NYU on the other hand, is not known for its engineering/science/tech program. So USC wins for this one.

Yes. Just think of NYU-Poly and NYU as two different universities. NYU is in Manhattan and Polytech is in Downtown Brooklyn,

I got accepted to Poly NYU with a generous scholarship (almost 80 percent of tuition), My major is mechanical engineering and I dont plan to dorm since I live in New York City. Is poly NYU a good choice for my major??????

NO even though NYU is a very prestigious school, as of right now it has yet to make a name in the field of engineering, right now I'd choose a school like Iowa State or Colorado over NYU engineering

80% scholarship is difficult to turn down though. Polytech has a good reputation in the NYC area.

Probably USC

I am a poly student and I also think that there are many idiots posting on this thread. Sorry, not trying to offend.

By the time you graduate --- 4 years If your good, less than 25% of the incoming freshmen graduate in that time span thanks to weeder courses that kill the hell out of you--- The world would have recognized the institution. Not to mention that it already has name.

Go to the following link and see their graduating student profile and where they are hired.

:: POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY :: Career Development

And let me tell you, we dont have parties, we dont have ANY girls, I mean literally, in more than 80% of my classes, I have seen less than 3 girls to none. If you need to know more, ask me.

PS>>>> 786, if you understand.

i heard that Polytech NYU is in the top 5 in the United States for an average salary after graduation....including all the ivy leagues (of course im talking only about engineering majors)...is this true????

hey thank you for helping me out greenvision.....i have heard a lot of criticism regarding Polytech whereas I thought it was a godd choice for my major which is mechanical engineering....what was your major and do you think polytech. is a good choice????

PS i dont understand 786...

Part of that is due to engineering majors as a whole having some of the highest average salaries and another part is due to the high cost of living in NYC (most students are locals and tend to stay in the area after graduation).

every school has good and bad points. I criticize poly because they dont have a campus where you can hang out. You have to remain confined within the building. Our gym is pretty cool but most of us are either too nerdy OR students just leave when they dont have anything to do.

93% of Poly students commute. You have to understand that most commuter schools are not so... what you would say " lets hang out for while" place. People simply leave. I myself have not gone to any game or event except those that were academically beneficial. I didnt even hang around for the governor when he was here last semester. Its a bad thing, but I cant waste time considering how I have to catch the express train. :)

I plan to commute 2, from Astoria.....another quesion how are the research opportunities/resources and internships/co-op at NYU polytech?......

Research opportunities are avaiable during the summer time. You been in a certain major, year, have a gpa no less than 3.3. it gets harder this year because many CS and DM majors from NYU are going to to compete.

The scholarship they offered me (was a 20 grand annual) but the condition is to maintain a 3.0 GPA. What do you think, is it easy enough to maintain a 3.0 GPA especially in an engineering major??

I think that nyu_poly is a good choice.

Their job recuiring after graduation is good.

You can use Bobst library and kimmel center at NYU.

You can take some courses at NYU as well.

I think that is a privilege to be a NYU_poly student.

Go to NYU_poly~
