wow i can’t believe people here see NYU_Poly as a low level third-tier school…seriously…how elitist is collegeconfidential??..

i’m pretty sure their student body is comparable to NYU’s student body…just math / science oriented instead of liberal arts oriented…

“i’m pretty sure their student body is comparable to NYU’s student body…just math / science oriented…”

That’s good and fine. And how does NYU Poly compare to top 50 Engineering programs in the following?

Engineering faculty

Engineering resources

Engineering facilities

Engineering curriculum/course offerings

Placement into engineering firms

probably pretty similar to Top 50…i know they have good job placement…there are two NYU Poly grads where i work…one is my mentor…he’s mid 30s…REALLY technically sound…knows his stuff well…the other one is older and the lead for the heat balance engineering group…he has some important papers published in the chemical engineering field…

i’ve heard course offerings there are pretty rigorous…wouldn’t know much about faculty, resources, and facilities…but they attract pretty top level students, have a hard curriculum, and have good job placement to top engineering firms, and i’m pretty sure they are highly ranked in starting salary…these things make NYU Poly a pretty legit tech school if you ask me…

hey, NYU-Poly student here:

Engineering faculty: some are GREAT, some okay. Just like in any other college in the world.

Engineering resources: acceptable, if you know where they are, and if not, ask around. it’s a small school lol.

Engineering facilities: (see resources). How it mainly works is, if you’re a part of a research team, if you’re a TA, part of Honors, HEOP/GS, part of some club/major, you get extra unofficial access privileges…collect them all

Engineering curriculum/course offerings: awesome, especially for a small school, and the curriculum is catered and always developing and evolving…I’d know, I’m a teaching assistant and work on curriculum development :)

Placement into engineering firms: AWESOME. We have connections, and after we graduate, a SOLID degree.

if you attend NYU you have access to Columbia’s libraries anyway, as well as Cooper Union’s, New School’s, and a slew of others.
