Which one would be a better topic to write?

Should I write about:

Finally realizing the importance of my first friendship, and how it had impacted my later friendships after ten years. The loss of my first friendship and the impact it has had on my later friendships.

or

the significance of my dad
how he went from being the eldest of a poor farm family to getting his PhD in the United States and living a comfortable lifestyle

or

the impact speech and debate on someone like me who is shy to the point of unable to speak when I stood in front of an audience or strangers.

I'm having a hard time trying to decide. I just don't know which one would have more of an impact.

What do you guys think?

If the college is looking for an essay about something that changed you for the better, I wouldn’t go with the last idea unless you overcame that problem. I see the others as possible topics, but I’m leaning towards the first one just because it’s more about your life.

However, if the college is looking for an essay about an influence on your life without emphasis on something you’ve personally done, I’d recommend the one about your father.

It’s for the common app essays

so there’s categories on all of the one’s i posted.

so technically these topics all fit under the criteria, but i have a hard time deciding which one would be more meaningful for a reader to read who has never met me.

So which one would you think is more meaningful?

Both the 1st and 3rd topics will work. I think the third one will work better though.

Honestly, unless a topic screams cliche at the top of its lungs, the topic itself isn’t the most important element. Pick one and run with it. If it doesn’t work out, try another topic.
