Hello, I got accepted into NYU-tandon and SBU for engineering but planning on switching to physics. Which one has a better program, better research opportunities, and which would be most helpful for grad school in your opinions? I would be paying around 20k for SBU a year, and around 30K a year for NYU out of pocket. At NYU I would be graduating with around 92k of debt and at SBU with around 22k worth of debt. I’m willing to intake the debt but I wish to have it be worth it. Moreover, I do prefer the NYU’s location but that does not really matter because the education quality is more important for me. Thanks in advance
What is “SBU” ? Southern Binghamton University ? Smith Brothers U. ?
Stony Brook University, my bad for not saying the full name, I assumed it was implied since I am talking about NYU. My bad again lol
If you got into Tandon make sure you can transfer to a physics major. I’m not sure how the schools are set up at NYU but the physics major might not be offered at Tandon. Full disclaimer I’m a SBU student but in pure math. However, due to the crossover I’ve taken classes with a bunch of physics majors. I would say our physics department has the slight edge on NYU. Both are nationally known but I think the research opportunities at SBU are better than those at NYU. If SBU is that much cheaper I’d go with it.
