Hi, I'm a current high school student from Texas who needs some advice. I have always said that Baylor was a hands down great school for my undergrad classes, but now I'm hearing about UT and other schools too. I want to go to John Hopkins University to study to be a Neurosurgeon but i need help in deciding which undergrad school would be the better choice to get me to John Hopkins. Help Me.

You can’t hope to get into any specific medical school because they are all super competitive, unlike undergraduate schools. The admissions process can be random at times and it’s not realistic at all to put just one medical school in mind.

However, to get into a top medical school you need great grades, a great MCAT score, great ECs, great letters of rec., and more. As you can probably tell, you can do all of this at either UT or Baylor, so the choice of school is up to you. The two schools are pretty different in terms of location, atmosphere, diversity, and more so you should choose one that fits you best. The two are quite different so I don’t think a student who is fit at one of those more than the other would be totally comfortable at the other.

Good luck, and you don’t need to look far for great medical schools! Texas has plenty.

Pre-Med schools don’t really matter; it’s better to go to a school that gives a scholarship than a school that’s expensive.
