which sat ii's?

hi im scheduled to take the sat 2's in october and im wondering which sat 2's people have found the easiest. i plan on studying extensively but i still want to put good numbers on the board.

so far im planning on taking US history and a math (probably 1c) and then im not sure if i want to take world history or physics or some lit subject test.

any thoughts?

What subjects are YOU best at? If you're big into physics but haven't done chem since 9th grade, well...

Also, M2C > M1C? I don't know--at my school I at least was told just to be taking the M2C which I did. I don't know how useful the first one is.

I took bio e / m2c / lit last may and found lit to be really obnoxious because yuo have to fit yourself into their stupid, stupid box--it's not proper analytical thinking imo and is a dumb test, just annoying. I'd say Bio was the easiest of those, but I'm really good at Bio, so... really, whatever you're best at.

chillax, i do not recommend taking math 1c. the curve is a lot more difficult than math 2c's. and math 2c isn't actually that difficult--you can easily study all the tested concepts.
bio is actually pretty hard (harder than getting a 5 on the AP test for SURE) so take cozmo's advice with a grain of salt.
if you take us history you really should NOT take world history. colleges generally ask for different subjects and two tests with history in the title don't count as different subjects.
physics does have a good curve so if you know physics go ahead.
lit is not really a good test to prep for--so unless lit is a strong point for you (you're good at analyzing prose and poetry, you did well on Critical Reading SAT1) don't take it.

Definitely take 2C if your coursework prepared you for it (you've taken pre-calc / analysis).

I'd have taken French listening over lit but it was only offered in novembers (?) so, Lit it was. At my school, statistically speaking, kids did well on the listening version of their languages, so that would have been a good bet... since you didn't mention it at all I'll assume you aren't super-savvy with a foreign language?

im ****ty at languages and im pretty good at critical reading.

hows this? b/c i dont think id be ready for physics

english
math 1c (i havent taken pre calc)
us history

Lit is basically just a super CR section. I'm not that great at English, but I was able to knock off 2 or 3 answers on every question (****ing amazing guesses and got a 770 =)

US and global history are easy

ya10- which one is easier? (to study for / have background knowledge of)

dude...USH is extremely detailed...like more detailed than the AP. but the AP is easier cuz u can miss many more questions and still get a 5. if u miss more than 3 or 4 on the USH sat ii, ure below a 800 already. i would suggest take math ii cuz colleges like it more and its easier if u have taken up to precalculus. caution: if u take math i after precalculus, ur scores may not be as high as ur math ii score (from collegeboard.com). biology (M) tends to be the easiest science AP if you've had a only a year of bio. if you've had two, then definitely take it. but don't expect an 800 cuz the curve is pretty crappy. expect more like a 750. physics has the most generous curve, cuz u can miss like 10 or so and get an 800. world history is easier than USH, because its based more on generalizations and the "big picture." i am taking physics, math ii, and bio in october (phy and math ii retaking) w/ studying. I was not satisfied w/ my USH score...but im not that great at USH either...w/e. go to collegeboard and do their practice questions for SAT IIs. or buy the "10 Real SAT IIs" and see on which one u do best. Hope this helps :).

Good Luck ;)!

thanks dog.

im pretty good at getting the details down so i think im going to run with ush and math 1c b/c i havent yet taken precalc.

chillax: If you know how to use a TI-83 or higher, you're very good to go on IIC. It does have a huge curve - in December I skipped 5 and missed countless more (I found myself unprepared) and I still got a 790.

If you've taken AP US History, you should find the US History SAT II far easier since it tends to be more detailed-focused (ex: What was the Taft-Hartley Act).

yeah...curve on MATh IIC is CRAZY!!! I ran out of time, and didn't do 8 questions, and I KNOW that I must have gotten at least three more wrong for sure..probably more than that, and I got above a 750, so yeah, nice curve.

My advice on which ones to take would be one math, one science, and one other, probably USH. Math IIC is always better than Math IC, and I would suggest either chem or physics. If you do that, then you will pretty much cover every college's requirements or recommendations. If you're taking the tests in two different sittings (like I did) then take Lit. It's really easy...I finished in twenty minutes and got a 780, and you really don't have to study for it.

And also, if you're taking any APs, take the SAT Subject Tests in June right after the May test, that way, you don't really have to do any extra studying, and those details will be a lot fresher on your mind. Since you're already scheduled in Oct, do Math IC if you don't feel comfortable with Math IIC and then do Lit since it really requires nothing. Then, if you're a junior and taking APs, take the other two ( one of them being Math IIC) in June. That's what I did, and it seemed to work out pretty well, except for I took the last two in october of my senior year.

I'm sure this is WAY too much info....

i would stay away from math ic

I got a 690 on the US History one (didn't skip any questions though)... BUT, I got a 5 on the APUSH exam. I should've gotten in the high 700s :(

490 on chem and 1 on ap exam, though. haha those make more sense than the US H ones
